Painting 51

This painting started on a sunny afternoon in Bakewell, sitting by the side of the river, idly looking across the water and committing the view to memory, helped by a few photos for reference. I am not quite sure if it is finished yet – sometimes I look at it and feel it is missing something, while others I’m scared of overdoing it. Following on to Viv Vernon’s succesful transformation of her five barred gate with the addition of a robin (see Guest Art no: 12) I can’t help thinking a small , but important detail would complete this one. What do you think? I plan to enter this painting into the Derbyshire Open exhibition this year, at the Buxton Art Gallery, so your opinion would be greatly valued.
